Islam in the Subcontinent?
The true message of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has not been fully understood or accepted by the majority of people who identify as Muslims and pray Salah five times a day, let alone by non-Muslims. His message emphasizes worshiping the Creator alone, trusting Him alone and seeking His help alone. He never worshiped or prostrated before the grave of any prophet or any of his companions, nor did he wear talismans, visit spiritual leaders (babas) or permit his followers to do so.
However, the majority of Muslims in the subcontinent hold peculiar beliefs. While they appear to be Muslims outwardly, their actions resemble those of Hindus. They often reject the original message of their Prophet and obstruct any individual or group attempting to promote it. This is why one often encounters a modified version of Islam in the subcontinent rather than its pure form.
Remember, in the subcontinent, it is easy to build a shrine for anyone, but it is not easy to praise Allah continuously for half an hour near any shrine. You will see millions following those who preach grave worship, but hardly anyone supporting those who call towards the One True God.
The belief that God is One and that He controls the entire universe empowers Muslims. In contrast, the idea that God cannot help us unless we visit babas and shrines renders Muslims helpless and weak. This explains the pitiable condition of Muslims in the subcontinent. They can sell their Islam and their brothers and sisters for a few dollars, whereas a true believer in Allah will sacrifice himself and his entire family for Islam and Muslims.
