 Pedigree of the Bhat Community of Lethapora

The following is a preliminary account of the Bhat Community of Lethapora, compiled from family information, oral traditions and local accounts. Some names, relationships and details remain uncertain and may require verification through family records, elderly community members and other reliable sources.

The Main Bhat Family

According to family tradition, Azam Bhat reportedly came to Lethapora, where he worked as a watchman in the local apple orchards. He was known as a respectable and well-mannered man. He later married a local woman and had a son named Wahab Bhat.

Wahab Bhat had four sons:

1) Jumm Bhat

Jumm Bhat had one son, Muhammad Shaban Bhat. Shaban Bhat, who passed away in 2014, had three sons:

• Gh. Nabi Bhat

• Ali Muhammad Bhat

• Gh. Mohi-ud-Din Bhat 

  • And, an adopted daughter. 

Gh. Nabi Bhat has a son named Mushtaq Ahmed Bhat.

Ali Muhammad Bhat has a son named Momin Ali Bhat.

Gh. Mohi-ud-Din Bhat has three sons:

Sahil Sharifdin Bhat

• Muzafar Ahmad Bhat

• Muhammad Abbas Bhat

2) Qadir Bhat

Qadir Bhat had two sons:

• Ahmad Bhat

• Ali Bhat

Ali Bhat had three daughters:

• Khurshi

• Azzi

• Misrah

Ahmad Bhat had two sons:

• Salam Bhat

• Samad Bhat

Salam Bhat has one son, Mushtaq Bhat, who is believed to have two sons.

Samad Bhat had two sons:

• Shabir Ahmad, who reportedly has two sons.

• Manzoor Ahmad, who reportedly has no son.

3) Amad Bhat

Amad Bhat had three sons:

• Ahad Bhat

• Ismail Bhat

• Kabeer Bhat

Kabeer Bhat had two sons:

• Gulzar Bhat (also known as Gul Bhat)

• Ahmad Bhat

Ismail Bhat had one son, Gh. Nabi Bhat. Gh. Nabi Bhat had two sons:

• Mehraj Ahmad

• Shabir Ahmad

Ahad Bhat had three sons:

• Ali Bhat, who has a son named Mudasir Bhat.

• Late Ramazan Bhat

• Late Mohideen Bhat

4) Aziz Bhat

Aziz Bhat had two sons:

• Raheem Bhat

• Nebir Bhat

Late Nebir Bhat had a son named Arshid Bhat.

Late Raheem Bhat had a son named Jumm Bhat, who had a son named Abdur Rashid Bhat. Abdur Rashid Bhat reportedly has two sons.

Jumm Bhat also had a son-in-law named Mushtaq Bhat, who has two sons:

• Zahoor Ahmad Bhat

• Javaid Ahmad Bhat


Other Bhat Families of Lethapora

Apart from the main family described above, there are reportedly other Bhat families in Lethapora. One such branch is believed to descend from three brothers: Sultan Bhat, Rasool Bhat and Qadir Bhat.

I. Sultan Bhat Family

Sultan Bhat had two sons:

• Muhammad Ramazan Bhat (also known as Rum Bhat)

• Muhammad Yousuf Bhat (also known as Rus Bhat)

Muhammad Yousuf Bhat had three sons:

• Muhammad Amin

• Manzoor Ahmad

• Gowhar Ahmad

Muhammad Ramazan Bhat had two sons:

• Showkat Ahmad

• Abdul Hamid

II. Rasool Bhat Family

Rasool Bhat reportedly had two sons:

• Muhammad Ramazan Bhat

• Ali Muhammad Bhat

Muhammad Ramazan Bhat had two sons:

• Firdous Ahmad Bhat

• Abdul Qayoom Bhat

Late Ali Muhammad Bhat had four sons:

• Iqbal Ahmad Bhat. Iqbal Bhat has a son, John Muhammad and two daughters. 

• Mukhtar Bhat

• Bilal Bhat

• Maqbool Bhat

III. Qadir Bhat Family

Another branch, headed by Qadir Bhat, reportedly had three sons.

A] Amm Bhat

Amm Bhat had two sons:

• Abdur Rehman Bhat

• Jalal-ud-Din Bhat

His known grandsons include:

• Husain Bhat, son of Abdur Rehman Bhat

• Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, son of Jalal-ud-Din Bhat

B] Dr. Gh. Nabi Bhat

Late Dr. Gh. Nabi Bhat reportedly had four sons, including:

• Fayaz Ahmad

• Zahoor Ahmad

• Samiullah

• One additional son whose name has not yet been confirmed

C] Gh. Mohammad Bhat (also known as Mummih Bhat)

Gh. Mohammad Bhat had two sons:

• Khursheed Bhat

• John Mohammad Bhat

His descendants reportedly include several grandsons, among them:

• Tariq Ahmad

• Nisar Ahmad

• Gulzar Ahmad

Additional descendants remain to be documented and verified.


Further Research

Another Bhat family of Lethapora includes the well-known saffron businessman Noor Muhammad Bhat and Master Shabir Ahmad Bhat, among others. The history and lineage of this branch are still under research and documentation.

This pedigree should be regarded as a preliminary family record rather than a definitive genealogical document. Some branches and relationships are based on oral accounts, family recollections and local reports and therefore require further confirmation.
